Great News!
I just found out that I've been accepted to law school at St. Mary's in San Antonio, TX!! This is after receiving two rejection letters (a rude one from UC Davis and a polite one from Hastings). I still have several schools left that I haven't heard from, but it's such a relief that, regardless of what happens with the other schools, I'm going somewhere. When I found out, I cried. I'm not usually a crier, but I was just so overcome with relief and gratitude. I'm going to get it right this time around. I'm a little nervous about the possibility of picking up and leaving the Bay Area for Texas. I'll be flying out next week to check out the area; the only time I've been to Texas was a layover at the Dallas airport coming home from my mission.

Congrats on getting into law school! I've lived in Texas twice (2 years in Houston, 1.5 years in Dallas), and I've visited San Antonio several times. In my experience, Texans are very wonderful, gracious, polite people (though that may be because of the famous dictum that "An armed society is a polite society.").
The climate in San Antonio will leave something to be desired, particularly during the summer (a bit too close to the Gulf). But, hey, it's just for three years.

Congrats -- but watch out. San Antone? Great! St. Mary's reputation? Not so good. Getting a job after graduation - even in San Antonio, assuming you want to stay there, could be tough unless you're at the top of the class. If I had to choose between St. Mary's and not going to law school ... well, I'm not so sure. There are certainly paralegals who make more and have greater job satisfaction than many (most?) St. Mary's grads in my state (not Texas, but one near enough to have some St Mary's grads). and the paralegals aren't paying off law school debt.
